Sogni Sospesi
Winter 2009
Guido was only 21 years old when he opened his first photographic exhibition at the Mediateca of Via Moscova, Milan. “Sogni Sospesi” or “Hanging dreams” was inspired by the discovery of an old trunk tucked away for over 80 years in the attic of Villa Erba, Cernobbio. In the trunk were unique “haute couture” outfits (signed Sartoria Ventura and H. Haardt et Fils) belonging to Guido’s great-grandmother, Carla Erba Visconti di Modrone. These were not simply “dresses” but precious memories that needed to be treasured. As Guido hung the first outfit on a wall of the terrace, a gust of wind gently lifted the garment…It was as if the dress had come alive. Thus Guido was inspired with the idea of hanging the 14 dresses on 14 different walls. Old, washed out, crumbled walls of different materials and textures were carefully selected to frame and enhance the colour and shape of each outfit. The exhibition was a great success, both in terms of audience and critics, so much so that it was selected by Vittorio Sgarbi to participate at the 54th “Festival dei Due Mondi di Spoleto” (2010).
